The Institute has concluded a partnership with the University of Geneva which encourages collaboration in teaching, research and executive education. The two institutions have notably created three joint centres which have enjoyed a great deal of success:
- Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights (Geneva Academy)
- the Geneva Center for International Dispute Settlement (CIDS)
- the Center for Education and Research in Humanitarian Action (CERAH)
The Institute and the University of Geneva are also at the origins of the Swiss Network for International Studies (SNIS), which promotes research in its field and has as members: the World Trade Institute (University of Bern), the Centre for Comparative and International Studies (University of Zurich and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich), the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute in Basel, and the Swiss Institute for International Economics and Applied Economic Research (University of St. Gallen).
The Institute also has agreements for collaboration and student exchange with:

- the Centre for Comparative and International Studies (University of Zurich and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich)
